Special symposium in honour of Professor Archie Howie

A particular highlight of the conference will be a special symposium to mark the 80th birthday of Professor Archie Howie, and focusing on one area of electron microscopy research where his interest in beam specimen-interactions has been relevant - in-situ microscopy.

"The Book"

Professor Howie will present an after-dinner talk at the conference dinner about the launch and subsequent voyage of the book: Electron Microscopy of Thin Crystals by Hirsch, Howie, Nicholson, Pashley and Whelan, which was published almost 50 years ago.
